BESTheatre is Slovenia's only independent, professional English-speaking theatre company.

Our policy is to help foster cultural interaction between Britain and our EU partner, Slovenia - two countries with a great theatrical heritage.

PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME

THE MAINE COURSE

Scheduled for production in London in 2013.

A contemporary comedy with dark undertones written by David Hampshire. A 25th wedding anniversary provides the impetus for this play which explores friendships between the sexes within marriage. Jonathan’s forgotten a special date. Allan wants a date. Christopher’s lost his date. And, ultimately, this is a date that no one will forget.

EDUCATIONAL DRAMA FOR STUDENTS

We are highly motivated in the use of drama to support the learning of English as a foreign language. To assist students in their Matura study we operate an active Theatre in Education (TIE) programme. We have presented educational productions in Slovenian schools from 2007 to 2012; beginning with three highly successful tours of John Osborne's Look Back in Anger in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

A STATE OF AFFAIRS

We revived our acclaimed production of Graham Swannell's funny and incisive play on human relationships A State of Affairs at the OSO Arts Centre Barnes, London. The production was directed by Kenn Michaels and the cast included Timothy Bentinck (David Archer in BBC's The Archers.)

MURDER MYSTERIES

BEST also offer traditional English Murder Mystery events (performed in Slovene or English) for both the private and corporate markets. In September 2005 (in co-operation with G & P Hoteli Bled) we produced Slovenia's first professional Murder Mystery at the Grand Hotel Toplice, Bled. Since then our corporate clients have included Nokia, Novo Nordisk, Peugeot, Sanolabor, IATEFL, Unicredit Bank, Sava Group, Raiffeisen Bank and Ericsson.

BBC BIG BAND CONCERTS

As one of our UK/Slovene initiatives BEST are negotiating to bring one of the UK's most prestigious orchestra's, the BBC BIG BAND (plus guest vocalists) to perform for the first time in Slovenia.

Famous musical names the BBC BIG BAND has played with includes Ray Charles, Mel Torme, George Benson, Tony Bennett, George Shearing, Michel Legrand, John Dankworth, and Van Morrison.

SONGS FROM THE WEST END SHOWS

BEST offer an exciting cabaret production, Songs from the West End Shows, featuring solos and duets from famous West End musicals.

Ideal as a corporate or private after-dinner entertainment, Songs from the West End Shows features a company of singers headed by one of England's leading musical theatre artistes, Graham Bickley. Graham performs songs from West End productions he has appeared in, including Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Sunset Boulevard.
