Bestheatre was established in July 2005 by its Director, English actor David Hampshire, and is Slovenia's first, and only, independent, professional English-speaking theatre company.

The company's policy is to present high-quality professional theatrical productions in Slovenia, principally for English-speaking nationals and expatriates.

Our objectives are:

to assist Slovenian schools in their Matura study and to help raise standards of spoken English through English-speaking drama.
to introduce Slovenian audiences to the best of accessible British Theatre.
to promote cultural ties between the UK and our EU partner, Slovenia.
to help Slovenian and British creatives develop their careers internationally.

BEST perform in the capital and around the country. Our productions are flexible and can be staged in many different venues (including schools and hotels).

A STATE OF AFFAIRS

We are presenting Graham Swannell's funny and penetrating drama/comedy A State of Affairs at the KUD, France Preseren Theatre, Ljubljana on Tuesday 16th, Thursday 18th & Friday 19th September 2008 at 8pm. Tickets cost 10 euros.

This play will also be staged by our Spanish subsidiary, BestSpain, on the Costa Blanca, Spain in November 2008.

BLOOD BROTHERS

The professional Slovenian premiere of the multi award-winning musical Blood Brothers is in preparation for 2009.

With book, music, and lyrics by popular Liverpool playwright, Willy Russell (author of Shirley Valentine and Educating Rita), Blood Brothers tells the story of twin boys secretly separated at birth, unaware of this they grow up to become best friends until one fateful day their heritage is revealed with shattering consequences.

With a musical score featuring the hit song Tell Me It’s Not True, this powerful show with its central themes of fate, superstition, and domestic tragedy has been hailed as one of the greatest ever English musicals.
